Man arrested in Fulton Houses

Police arrested a 19-year-old homeless man after he was found inside the Fulton Houses on Feb. 24 at 10:15 a.m. Police said they responded to 418 West 17th St. following a call about a suspicious person inside the NYCHA property. When officers attempted to escort him out, he began yelling that he wasn’t leaving and started banging his head on the wall, flailing his arms, spitting and refusing to be handcuffed, police said. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. He was charged with resisting arrest.

Drunk driving arrests

A 34-year-old man was arrested for a violation of vehicle traffic law and intoxicated driving on 12th Avenue near West 24th Street last Saturday at 10:15 p.m. Police were responding to a radio run of a reckless driver on the West Side Highway and when they arrived, the suspect was slumped over the wheel with the keys in the ignition. The car was stopped in the middle lane of southbound traffic.

Police later arrested a 33-year-old man for intoxicated driving at the northwest corner of 10th Avenue and West 14th Street on the early morning of Feb. 25. Police said that the suspect was driving south on Ninth Avenue shortly after 4 a.m when he made a right turn onto West 14th Street without using proper signals and when police pulled him over, he blew a .12 on a Breathalyzer. The suspect was also arrested for drunk driving on September 24, 2016.

Passport stolen from hotel

A 26-year-old man reported that his passport was stolen from a safe inside his hotel room at 318 West 22nd St. sometime between Feb. 22 and Feb. 25. He told police that he left the passport inside a safe in the hotel room, along with his iPod, earbuds and jewelry, and when he checked the safe on Saturday morning, the items were missing. He said that he forgot to lock it and hotel personnel had access to the rooms daily for cleaning and maintenance.

Woman pick-pocketed by dog-friendly stranger

A 24-year-old woman reported that she was pick-pocketed while walking her dog at the northeast corner of West 23rd Street and 11th Avenue. She told police that she had her iPhone in her front pants pocket while walking her dog on the afternoon of Feb. 25 when a man approached her and asked if he could pet her dog. She said that the man also asked her out on a date. She later realized she no longer had her cellphone.
