Man killed by C train

Police reported that a homeless man was killed by a downtown C train at the 14th Street/Eighth Avenue station Friday, Dec. 30, around 8:45 p.m. Witnesses told police that the man appeared to fall into the tracks and he was pulled underneath when the train came into the station. Police said that the man was homeless and he was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:55 p.m. His identity was not immediately released.

Abuse at Flannery’s Bar

A 34-year-old woman reported to police that a man she didn’t know forced her to grab his crotch while she was inside Flannery’s Bar at 205 West 14th Street Dec. 30 at 8:26 p.m. She told police that she was having a drink at the bar when a man she didn’t know forced her to grab his crotch.

Man busted for theft of ice cream

Police arrested a 32-year-old man for petit larceny inside the Rite Aid at 195 Eighth Avenue at 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 30. An employee at the store told police that the man removed 16 cartons of Haagen-Dazs ice cream from the freezer and placed them in his bag before attempting to leave without paying.

Man assaulted on subway

A 27-year-old man reported that he was assaulted by a stranger while he was on the C train at the 23rd Street/Eighth Avenue station New Year’s Eve at 7 p.m. He told police that he was on a downtown train when a man who was exiting at 23rd Street punched him in the face two to three times. The man then fled the station.

Teens wanted for Comme des Garcons robbery

Police said that five teenagers are responsible for a robbery that took place inside Comme des Garcons at 112 10th Avenue Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. The teens reportedly went into the store and attempted to take two hoodies, a T-shirt and a cardigan without paying for the items and when an employee tried to take the items back from the teens, one of them punched him in the face. Police said that video footage of the incident is available but no arrests have been made. Police said that the stolen items were valued at $1,075.

Trespassers busted for stolen property

Police arrested a 33-year-old woman and 44-year-old man for criminal trespass Dec. 30 at 6:30 p.m. inside the Port Authority garage at the northwest corner of Dyer Avenue and West 40th Street. After the pair were arrested and they were searched, police found that the man was in possession of a stolen credit card.

Panhandler breaks ATM door

A panhandler reportedly broke a door leading into an ATM vestibule at 471 West 42nd Street Friday at noon on Dec. 30. A witness told police that the man became aggressive when he asked him to leave due to the pan handling and the man subsequently kicked the vestibule door, causing it to shatter.
