Employee arrested for theft

Police arrested a 19-year-old man for petit larceny inside the Rite Aid at 198 Eighth Avenue on Friday, January 5 at 9:40 p.m. A manager told police that the employee stole $590 in cash from the register at the store on New Year’s Eve around 10 a.m. while pretending to take out money for bottle deposits. The manager said that he had the employee on video stealing the money.

Woman arrested on assault charges

A 24-year-old woman was arrested on assault and criminal mischief charges after she reportedly punched a bouncer inside Marquee New York at 289 10th Avenue on Sunday, January 7 at 3:20 a.m. Police said that the 25-year-old woman was attempting to remove the suspect from the club when she punched the bouncer in the face, causing substantial pain and redness. The victim also told police that her glasses were broken during the incident, causing more than $250 in damage.

Man flees hit-and-run

A 54-year-old man reported that he was in a car accident with someone who fled the scene at the southeast corner of 12th Avenue and West 27th Street Thursday, January 4 at 9 a.m. The victim reported that the other driver was going west on West 27th Street and then rear-ended his car and then fled the scene. The man said he was not injured.

Women arrested following fight

Police arrested two women following a dispute that turned physical at Chelsea Houses at 420 West 26th Street on Sunday, January 7 around 8:15 p.m. Police said that the women, a 40-year-old woman and 51-year-old woman, punched each other in the face, causing minor injuries. There was no word on what precipitated the dispute or if the women know each other.

Bike stolen

A 25-year-old woman reported that her bike was stolen after she locked it in front of 355 West 16th Street sometime between 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26 and 5 a.m. the next day. She told police that she locked the bike to the rack and when she returned, both the bike and the lock were gone. She reported the theft last Friday, January 5.

Shoplifter arrested

Police arrested a 38-year-old man for stealing about $200 in provisions from the Whole Foods at 250 Seventh Avenue on Saturday, January 6 at 11:40 a.m. Police said that an employee saw the suspect putting four packages of smoked salmon and eight packages of shrimp into a shopping bag and attempting to leave without paying. According to Whole Foods, the seafood was valued at $184 and the suspect also reportedly stole two packages of whey protein, valued at $110.
