UnitedHealthcare partnered with the Boomer Esiason Foundation to “Cycle for Cystic Fibrosis,” an event on March 27 at Chelsea Piers aimed at raising awareness for the disease.

UnitedHealthcare of New York CEO Michael McGuire participated in a spin class with Boomer Esiason, former NFL quarterback and host of the “Boomer and Gio in the Morning” radio show. With donations from class participants, the event raised nearly $6,000 for cystic fibrosis research.

Esiason began his advocacy work after his son was diagnosed in 1993 and has become one of the most visible national figures in the fight against cystic fibrosis, an incurable genetic disorder that affects more than 30,000 Americans.

“Cycle for Cystic Fibrosis” kicked off Wellness Week (April 8-14, 2019), a partnership between UnitedHealthcare and Chelsea Piers Fitness that encourages people to be more active by offering group exercise classes for only $5 each.
