Woman stalked on West 17thA 25-year-old woman reported that she was stalked in front of 419 West 17th St. on Saturday, August 4 at 3:30 a.m. She told police that a man ran at her with his pants down and his penis exposed and harassed verbally. Police said that the suspect is known to be an emotionally disturbed person and after police searched the area, he was spotted at the original location for the incident but fled east on West 17th Street and wasn’t arrested. The victim said that the suspect’s conduct caused her to fear for her safety.
Drunk driver arrestedPolice arrested a 25-year-old man for drunk driving at the southwest corner of Eighth Avenue and West 23rd Street On Saturday, August 4 at 4:10 a.m. Police said that the suspect was driving on Eighth Avenue in the wrong directions he crashed into a median and when police arrived at the scene, he reportedly had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol on his breath. The suspect was standing outside the vehicle when officers approached but the keys were in the ignition and the passenger in the car told police that the suspect had been driving.
Man busted for graffitiPolice arrested a man for making graffiti at the northeast corner of Eighth Avenue and West 18th Street on Saturday, August 4 at 10:20 p.m. Police said that the suspect placed a 4x4 sticker on a light pole without permission. The sticker contained the tag “I clown NY” with a drawing of a clown in place of the word. Police said that the suspect goes by the alias @clown_soldier on Instagram and Flickr.
Woman arrested after blocking trafficPolice arrested a 25-year-old woman for criminal possession of a weapon in front of 524 West 42nd ST. on Thursday, August 2 at 11:30 p.m. Police said that the suspect was standing in traffic, purposely blocking cars from passing. Police reportedly asked her to get out of the street multiple times and she responded that she wouldn’t get out of the street because she was allowed to be there. When asked again to leave, she reportedly said, “No, I’m protesting America.” When she was ultimately arrested, police recovered a gravity knife in her bag.
Bike stolen on West 16thA 40-year-old woman reported that her bike was stolen from in front of 217 West 16th St. sometime between Friday, August 3 at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 4 at 9:45 a.m. The victim told police that she locked her bike to a fence in front of her building on Friday afternoon and when she checked on it the next morning, the bike was gone. She said that the lock wasn’t damaged but an unknown person had removed the bicycle.
A 48-year-old cyclist reported that he was hit by a taxi while he was at the southeast corner of 10th Avenue and West 39th Street on Thursday, August 2 at 6:40 p.m. The victim told police that while making a right turn onto 10th Avenue while traveling west on West 39th Street, a taxi driver cut him off to make a right-hand turn and hit him with. The victim said that the collision caused swelling to his right hand, knee abrasions and shoulder abrasions. He was taken to Roosevelt Hospital and a bicycle inspection was conducted with no discrepancies noted.
