BLOTTER
There was something in the air around Brooklyn on Wednesday that was making people extra-cranky. Maybe it was the change in weather, but all day long, the slightest disappointments set people off.
Take 26-year-old William Sanchez. He had a perfectly good job working the night shift at a Sunset Park warehouse. Now admittedly, if you're working at a warehouse, your boss isn't going to tell you to "go massage the supermodels" or "see how fast this Porsche can go," but at about 4 a.m. when his boss told him to wash out some buckets, Sanchez allegedly lost it. It was the last straw. According to reports, he picked up a handy metal pipe and bonked his boss over the head with it. Then he ran away. He'd pretty well quit, anyway. Since his boss hadn't been killed (he only required a few stitches), it didn't take cops long to track Sanchez down. He's now facing the usual laundry list-weapons, assault, menacing, etc.
Later that day, 17-year-old Eric Zaman found himself craving the smooth, rich flavor of a cheap cigar. Unfortunately, he chose probably the only store in Cypress Hills that wouldn't sell tobacco products to minors. When the clerk said no, Zaman allegedly stomped toward the door, and pulled out some bottles from a garbage can. He reportedly threw the first bottle with deadly accuracy, toinking it off the law-abiding cashier's head. The second he allegedly threw at the glass door, smashing it.
Cops found him hanging around the neighborhood. No word on whether or not he'd found himself a cigar yet, but he's facing pretty much all the same charges Sanchez is.
