Bobrick Wants to Unseat Incumbent Bottcher for City Council in District 3
Early voting starts Oct. 28. Election Day is Nov. 7. Robert Bobrick, a longtime school teacher at Lafayette High School in Brooklyn is a lifelong resident of the district who is running as the Republican candidate for City Council in District 3 vs incumbent Democratic nominee Erik Bottcher representing Chelsea, Clinton and parts of Greenwich Village. He’s also endorsed by the Medical Freedom which opposes vaccine mandates and Bobrick says imposing them on the entire population was “stupid, mercenary and harmful.”

Chelsea News: what’s your age, how long in the district and which neighborhood and civic/business and or/political background and employment.
I am 78. I was born on Waverly Place in the Village. My parents were original tenants in the Chelsea Penn South Co-op, and I have lived in Penn South continuously since 2003. My wife and I have belonged to the Jeff Dullea Intergenerational Church Garden for over 25 years. I was an active member of the Community Church of New York and served as chairman of its Board of Trustees in 2010s.
For 15 years I taught social studies and history at Lafayette High School in Brooklyn. Before that, I taught ESL and history in Japan for 6 years.
In 2022, I ran for State Senate with the Medical Freedom Party, and got 1536 votes, outperforming the Parent Party in a dozen election districts.
2) Why are you running?
I am running to give the voters a choice, so we can have an election, not a selection by one party, in District 3. We need independents and Republicans to balance the City Council.
3) What do you see as the major issues facing voters in your district and what do you hope to do about it?
The major issues in my district are the loss of small businesses, the planned demolition of the Chelsea Elliott and Fulton NYCHA Houses and the displacement of their residents, and the need to protect the district’s residents against onerous crisis health mandates. When elected, I will fight for the retention of Section 9 housing. The Health Department needs to be streamlined and held accountable.
4) Are you running on any other party line other than the Republican line.
I am running on the Medical Freedom Party line as well as the Republican line.
5) What is your view of the COVID-19 vaccines. Do you think they are medically safe? What about other vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox. Should they be required for admittance to NYC schools?
The COVID vaccines were neither safe, nor effective, and the attempt to impose them on the entire population was stupid, mercenary and harmful.
As for the other vaccines, I have no completely settled opinion about them. Our children are being over-vaccinated. I believe parents should decide what is medically necessary for their children.
6) Anything else we should know about you?
I belong to the Stein Center Poets (Stein Senior Center) and some of my poetry is published on my website, bobforny.com
