A collision involving three New Jersey Transit buses at the Port Authority bus terminal in midtown in the early morning hours of July 1 left 14 people with minor injuries and prompted partial service disruption.
The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. on the Express Bus Lane (XBL) ramp leading into the terminal. Port Authority Police responded immediately, joined by personnel from NYC Emergency Medical Services, the FDNY, and the Port Authority’s Tunnel & Bridge unit.
Thirteen of the injured passengers were transported to area hospitals for further evaluation. Authorities confirmed that all injuries were non-life-threatening.
The XBL ramp was closed to bus operations following the crash and reopened just over three hours later at 9:38 a.m. NJ Transit temporarily suspended service to the terminal, though the facility itself remained open throughout the morning. Commuters were advised to expect residual delays and to check with their individual carriers for updates.
The Midtown Bus Terminal—one of the busiest bus transit hubs in the country—continued operations throughout the day, despite the brief suspension of NJ Transit service. An investigation into the cause of the collision is currently underway.
