The Animal Medical Center held its 2020 Top Dog Virtual Gala on December 8, which raised $1.4 million for the hospital. AMC honored a group of Healthcare Heroes for their commitment and sacrifices to deliver world-class veterinary care throughout the pandemic.

The digital program featured a tribute to the honorees, and a video included animated animals with voice-overs by Broadway legend Bernadette Peters, actress Candice Bergen and “Hamilton” star Miguel Cervantes.

Two special working dogs were also honored: Hunter, a therapy dog with Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause, who works with the U.S. Military at West Point, and Dogtor Loki, a therapy dog at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

The benefit was co-chaired by Nancy Kissinger, Elaine Langone, Marianne Mebane and Annette de la Renta. David Monn was responsible for the creative concept and execution of the virtual gala.

“I’m so proud to be a part of the Animal Medical Center’s 2020 Top Dog virtual gala,” said Bernadette Peters, an AMC Board Member. “AMC has been here for the people and pets of NYC through the 1918 Flu Pandemic, World War II, 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, and now COVID-19, and has always provided the very best care of animals. I salute AMC’s Healthcare Heroes for their extraordinary efforts to continue caring for pets throughout the pandemic.”
