A violent subway attack that cops are treating as an anti-Asian hate crime assault has brought further ignominy to the world beneath the “Crossroads of the World,” aka Times Square. The incident occurred within the confines of the Midtown South Precinct/Transit District 1 and details are as follows:
It was reported to the police that on Monday, July 27, 2026, at approximately 4:52 p.m., a 21-year-old male victim was on board a northbound R train approaching the 42 Street/Times Square subway station when he was approached by an unidentified individual.
The individual engaged the victim in conversation and then made anti-Asian remarks. Upon arriving at the station, the individual pushed the victim to the ground, causing him to break his glasses. The individual then punched and kicked him causing him to sustain a laceration to the face. The individual fled the location on foot to parts unknown.
EMS responded and transported the victim to Mount Sinai West in stable condition. This incident is being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force.
The suspect is described as a light skinned male, likely in this 20s. He was last seen wearing a black Fendi Roma t-shirt with yellow lettering and a black skullcap.
Two Men Stabbed in Times Square
The New York City Police Department is also asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the two individuals wanted in connection with an assault that occurred within the confines of the MTN Precinct. Details are as follows:
It was reported to police that on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at approximately 1:38 a.m., in front of the Verizon store at Eighth Avenue at West 46th Street, a 28-year-old male victim and a 31-year-old male victim were approached by two unidentified individuals who engaged them in a verbal dispute.
The dispute escalated into a physical altercation and the individuals began to punch and kick the victims. During the altercation, one of the individuals displayed a knife and stabbed both victims in the back before both the individuals fled the location on foot traveling southbound on 8th Avenue towards parts unknown.
EMS responded and transported both victims to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
The suspects are described are as Black males, likely in their 20s. One man has long hair and is wearing a green camouflage dreadlock sleeve. The other man is wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, and white Air Jordan sneakers.
