Quick Arrest after Double Stabbing in Hell’s Kitchen Kills One Man
A 31-year-old suspect who lived at 440 W. 47th St. was charged with murder of a homeless man and attempted murder of a woman.

A fatal stabbing in Hell’s Kitchen left one dead and another injured Sept 9 but police quickly apprehended a suspect who lived in the apartment on West 47th St. where the attacks ocurred and charged him with murder and attempted murder.
The NYPD responded to the assault in progress inside 440 West 47 Street at approximately 2:45 p.m. and blocked off the street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues, creating rush hour traffic headaches.
Upon arrival, police observed a 35-year-old woman with stab wounds to the back and neck and a 26-year-old man with a torso stab wound.
Both were rushed by EMS to Mount Sinai Morningside, where the woman was said to be in stable condition the man later identified as John Carlos Mesa, who was said to be undomiciled at the time of the incident, died from his injuries.
Police had initially been searching the Hell’s Kitchen area but by the following day, cops had arrested 31-year-old Carlos Andres Delgadolopez, 31, on Sept. 10. The DAs office had not formally arraigned him by Sept. 11.
